Discodelic presents the start of a 45rpm singles series where we’ll be officially reissuing incredible music made in Central America during the 60’s and 70’s. We’re taking great effort in giving these tunes a second chance, songs full of potential that fell by the wayside, didn’t manage to be a hit in their home country, came out as very limited pressing or only for promotional distribution for local radio stations. Locating one of these original pieces represents a titanic labor that implies a lot of effort. As a way to offer thess tracks again on vinyl, Discodelic presents its second release as a label in conjunction with Groovie Records (Portugal). This first 7” entry presents two bands from Costa Rica who were influenced by Brazilian music: Via Libre and Grupo Amigos, from 1974 and 1976 respectively. Two hallucinating cover versions in Spanish, originally by Marcos Valle and Trio Ternura. The story of how these bands absorbed obscure brazilian sounds will unfold in the liner notes.Limited edition of 500 copies worldwide, 100 of them in Marble Red. Distribution in Europe by Groovie Records, USA by Independent Grand (Names You Can Trust), and Mexico, Center and South America by Discodelic.Includes two postcards with liner notes and screenprinted Discodelic sleeve.Side A: Via Libre - Chi Chi (Mentira)Side B: Grupo Amigos - La Gira del Diablo.Mastered by Frank Merritt at The Carvery London.Licensed from Fernando Castro Sandí (Via Libre) and Julio Castro Carvajal (Amigos).Graphic Design by Ricardo Embassy KingLiner notes by Ruffy TNT and Daniel Ortuño
