With the CD IN THE GIANTS GARDEN, von Wattenwyl realizes an idea that he has been carrying around as a dream project for many years: to recompose music composed only by pianists.Music by well-known key artists such as Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock or Keith Jarrett to those almost forgotten today like Mal Waldron or Ray Bryant, not the hits, but the pearls that did not make it into the Great American Songbook.The trio seeks and finds completely new ways and means to let each work shine in a diverse and yet coherent bouquet. Stylistically diverse music from different epochs that somehow touches, be it through its groove, its lyrical power or the idiosyncratic arrangements and interpretations of the well-rehearsed ensemble.
