Notes
An anechoic chamber (an-echoic meaning "non-reflective, non-echoing") is a room designed to completely absorb reflections of either sound or electromagnetic waves. They are also often isolated from waves entering from their surroundings. This combination means that a person or detector exclusively hears direct sounds (no reverberant sounds), in effect simulating being inside an infinitely large room. The project is also inspired by an article written by the science fiction author James Graham Ballard, entitled "Which Way to Inner Space", that in 1962 appeared in the magazine New Worlds and marked the beginning of the British New Wave. It’s a non-conventional kind of science fiction, because he moves the attention from the extraterrestrial space to the interior space, a meeting place between the impulses of the human psyche and the images, that is the symbols conveyed by the mass media. The tracks are a creative self-analysis, in which I’ve marked and developed pictures that directly reflect the internal scenarios of the mind. The imaginative surrealism of desire, the synthetic landscapes and the plasticity of the invented visual forms are signs that derive from the most formative and confused periods of life and are often temporal sculptures of terrifying ambiguity. Sometimes they become real obsessions and the sounds reflect these moods and settings. It’s a project full of contradictions and shadows. So, it looks like an alternation of different feelings; apocalyptic sound stories, nihilistic torments or pessimist of decadence, intellectual and emotional destruction, dirty dreams, fear for the future that manifests itself in a morbid attachment to the past, schizophrenic and pounding rhythmic forces. It’s a subversive album, deriving from the unconscious mind that banishes time and space itself.
