Story
With our nation's childhood obesity epidemic on its way to creating a full-fledged health catastrophe in America, organizations like HealthCorps are sending young emissaries into public schools to turn the situation around for kids and their families. The short documentary film 'The Heart of the Matter' profiles Amy Barras, a young HealtchCorps coordinator, as she works to transform the health of an inner-city school in Portland, Oregon. Along the way she inspires seasoned and new teachers to develop an innovative, integrated program that has incredible--and hopefully lasting--results for everyone involved.
