Story
Synopsis: During the American Civil War, Confederate Captain David Hornblower suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, forcing him to confront his role in the war. Charged with behavior unbecoming an officer, Hornblower is given one final chance to redeem himself. A mission takes him to the CSS Neuse ironclad gunboat and deep into the swamps of the North Carolina wilderness. There, Hornblower finds himself and more... Spanning several years, four states, and four reenactments, there are several epic moments to Secession Path, even though it cost less than $2k to make. Technical improvements were made to the film in 2009. The accompanying documentary, Guerrilla Film the Making of Secession Path, chronicles the no-budget journey that independent filmmakers John Hartman and Zee Zarbock took on their first larger-scale joint project. Finally released to the public in 2010, they hope the film conveys that, when forced to be creative, a micro budget may produce macro results.
