Story
MDMA THE MOVIE follows activist Emanuel Sferios who, during the underground rave culture of the 90's, founded DanceSafe, a pioneering harm reduction organization providing ecstasy pill testing services to help young people avoid the dangers of deadly counterfeit drugs. After DanceSafe grew to 24 chapters across North America and saved countless lives, Sferios passed on the leadership to a new generation. Fifteen years later he takes note of a ten-fold increase in ecstasy related fatalities and now, as the concerned father of a teenage daughter entering the music festival scene, Sferios sets out on a mission to find out what is happening. As part of his journey the audience hears from scientists, authors, law enforcement officials and other experts while following several characters whose emotional stories demonstrate how the drug war has both increased the risks of MDMA (and other drugs) while suppressing its therapeutic benefits.
