Story
Loosely based on Carl Millöckers operetta "Der Bettelstudent" the film deals with the revolt of students and landed gentry in Poland against the authority of colonel Ollendorf. Being on the run 2 student where captured by the soldiers and set to prison. As Ollendorf's advances to countess Laura were rejected by her, he is looking for revenge. He promises to set the students free when one of them is willing to marry the countess. All seems to run smooth but Ollendorf has to face the phalanx of the insurrectionists.
