Story
Josh rides up to the home of Frank Hagen who has written to him about a job that pays $100 which he needs. When he yells to see if anyone is home, he sees a girl inside and a man approaches with a rifle telling him to raise his hands. Josh tells him he is looking for a Frank Hagen. After showing his letter, the man tells Josh he is Hagen. When Josh asks about the details of the job, Hagen tells him he is to guard his deaf and mute daughter keeping everyone off the ranch until he returns that evening or the next day. Needing the pay, Josh agrees to take the job but he feels a bit uncomfortable about it. Hagan leaves as Josh realizes he can't converse with the daughter Carol who does write him notes as well as write in her own diary. Eventually she writes to Josh that she may be bad company but she is a good cook. Josh has noticed her looking at him when he was outside realizing she may have a bit of a crush. Josh has to run off a drifter but when Hagen returns shot Josh learns the rest...
