Story
Bertrand Tavernier devotes a whole chapter to directors who ,unfairly ,never got the place they deserved in the French cinema:Pierre Chenal,Henri Calef and Gilles Grangier. He points out that,although there were two important female directors in the silent age ,it would take Jacqueline Audry ,and later Agnès Varda in the fifties to allow women to direct their own works.Today ,there are plenty of them on the French scene.
