Story
Recent archaeology throws new light on the Stonehenge site. Its very composition, including the distant transport of Welsh stones and the multi-layer structure, indicate a long history with different phases of use and development. The site was not arbitrary but specifically fitted previous ritual practices of sacrifices and burial, with presumed magical functions, mass gatherings and great feasts, drawing devotees from far over Britain.
