Story
Will awakes in a fancy bed, wearing fancy pajamas and a clean bandage around his head. His regaining consciousness is immediately noticed by Eloise, the daughter of the Count and Countess de Ricordeau who have given him shelter. Henry and Beanpole have been accommodated, too. The Count believes they are simply wanderers, a pastime of which he approves. The Duc de Sarlat who found Will, thinks the Tripods should be notified. The Count dismisses him. Beanpole suggests they stay until an upcoming tournament can provide sufficient activity to make their departure less obvious. Eloise's fondness for spending time with Will makes the Duc de Sarlat jealous. After all, it has been arranged that he will marry her at the proper age. Henry begins to think Will has forgotten about the White Mountains. The Count wants to give the three traveler's lessons every day. Beanpole likes that but Henry is impatient to be on the road again.
