Story
Dodie Jones from Tucson visits Old Man Clanton at his home. Besides a personal run in with Earp, Jones brings word that the trouble in Tombstone has reached Washington which is considering a new governor for the Arizona Territory. The Ten Percent Ring has decided Old Man Clanton must kill Earp. Clanton is not against it but knows it will be difficult as he can't take his men into Tombstone to do it. Thacker of Wells Fargo hears that Clanton is going to plan an ambush for Earp. Earp sends Doc and Shotgun out to learn more details. Doc is able to squeeze some details indicating Clanton plans to rob a stage and wait to ambush Earp. Doc sends for Morgan Earp to help convince Earp the threat is real. The Skelton Canyon stage is held up and late but Earp declines to go after it. His plan is to take the Clanton ranch and catch the men as they return there.
