Story
While John and Buck are gone, a wounded man arrives at the High Chaparral on a stolen horse looking for Annalee, John's dead wife. After he passes out, they bring him in where Victoria tends to his wound. Later, when John arrives he does not recognize the man but when he wakes up he tells them he is Dan Brookes, Annalee's younger stepbrother. As he heals Blue is enthralled with Dan's stories about him and Blue's mother. Buck, however, is highly suspicious of Dan but John appears to accept him. Once Dan learns to walk again, he makes a pass at Victoria accusing her of taking advantage of John. Buck tells Dan to pick a horse and leave but the real heat is when Buck unwittingly hires the two bounty hunters after Dan who wounded him. Dan talks them into robbing John's payroll money the next day but double crosses them by killing them when they are distracted by Buck and Manolito. Once safely at the ranch, Dan steals the payroll and knocks out John. The dazed John sends Blue after Dan. ...
