Story
The fifth season of New Zealand reality television series The Block NZ, titled The Block NZ: Girls vs Boys, premiered on 29 May 2016. Hosted by Mark Richardson and Shelley Ferguson, the season was set in the Auckland suburbs of Meadowbank. The prize money for achieving the most amount of profit from the auction was $100,000 for this series and was judged by Paul Izzard and Fiona McLeod. The season also included the Kiwibank Block Out Live online game, a bingo-style game designed to be played by viewers watching the show live. It consisted of a grid of nine squares, each containing an event or quote from the show. When the event was broadcast, viewers had a few minutes to tap the corresponding square. The first person to unlock all nine squares on a given night won a $100 gift card.
