Story
Gibsons city council has approved Sara's idea of an annual Founder's Day event, but for this first one they have provided little money, meaning that it has to be done on a shoestring. Despite the lack of budget, Nick and the gang are planning among other things a parade, a fair in which they will highlight rhubarb in unique new uses as town founder George Gibson was a commercial rhubarb grower, and have a George Gibson lookalike act as honorary mayor for the day. The choice of the honorary mayor will be done through a contest held through the newspaper. The planning for this event coincides with the unexpected visit into town of Jane Carmichael, a renowned travel writer who has made or broken the tourist trade in many other such towns. Because of the way the planning is going, the townsfolk have to decide whether to go ahead with the event at the possible risk of its failure and thus the demise of their tourist trade.
