Story
During Fasnet (Swabian carnival) in Stuttgart, costumed revelers with masks abound, while Schrotti calls in having seen one who presumably murdered mask artist Thomas Kienle in his workshop. Schrotti's generic description is useless. Thomas' niece and apprentice Rosa recently rowed with him. His brother, Robert, was in debt but argues he barely recuperated the fair share he was denied at father's inheritance. A beer card-scrabbled phone number leads to Hamburg tourist couple Hinnerk and Greta Jost, who lie about their annual carnival attendance in Stuttgart, reminiscent of falling in love here as students. During the police costumed party, Thomas's is broken into by Rosa and Robert, who tried to steal the valuable masks collection.
