Story
Helena Lubas is shot dead during a gun battle between her criminal boyfriend and the police and some months later Karim Benzal , who witnessed the shootings from his carpet shop is murdered. Police complaints investigator Rachel Sharpe claims there was a police cover up in the Lubas case, following information given by Karim and, whilst his widow tells Nikki he was being threatened by gangster Sakir, Rachel believes the police killed him. DI Cooke arrests Sakir but Jack's evidence shows that Sakir met a mystery man shortly before Karim's murder. Tim Friend, the officer who shot Helena, is still racked by guilt but his colleagues close rank against Rachel, who is told to drop the case. Then a member of Helena's family goes missing and a police officer is murdered at home.
