Story
Hilary Booth (Melinda Mullins) is becoming increasingly frustrated at not being able to speak to her husband, Jeff Singer (Hugh O'Gorman) in London. Whenever he calls she is on the air, or vice versa. Jeff calls again, while Hilary is absent, and he tells Gertie (Margaret Hall), that it is urgent he speak to Hilary right away, and she is to pull Hilary off the air if necessary. Sure enough, Gertie is forced to do just that, right in the middle of "Valiant Journey." Unfortunately, the line is cut before Jeff can tell Hilary the urgent news, and as Hilary tries get over this latest frustration, she is told a "Mrs. Singer" is waiting to talk to her in the greenroom. Assuming it is Jeff's mother, she is shocked to find a young woman, Pavla Nemkova (Karen Travis), who claims to be Jeff's wife. Pavla, a Czech refugee who met Jeff while broadcasting for the BBC, tells Hilary her marriage was duly registered in England, while Hilary's Mexican marriage to Jeff is invalid.
