Story
Hilary Booth (Melinda Mullins) complains to Betty about her role on "The Hands of Time" but Betty Roberts (Amanda Naughton) points out that any changes would have to be cleared with the sponsor, so Hilary goes back on the air and changes the story herself. Meanwhile, the very soap in question is losing listeners to a Hollywood gossip show on another channel, so Scott Sherwood (Kevin O'Rourke) and Betty decide to pitch their own gossip show to sponsor Dusty Foxx (Rue McClanahan). She agrees, and manipulates a reluctant Hilary to host the show, but has a secret agreement with Sherwood to write Hilary's character out of "The Hands of Time" in exchange. Hilary is unable to glean any gossip for her new show, so she talks only about herself, prompting Dusty to cancel her gossip show, and for good measure, tells her she is off the soap as well. When the day of her demise comes, Hilary seems to be resigned to her fate, but at the last minute refuses to die, and comically evades every attempt ...
