Story
Francis and Mary and prepare for the event of his expected death and ensuing succession on the throne of kid brother Charles, who is informed with siblings Claude and Bash. Francis implores Charles to marry widowed Mary, which Charles initially refuses inspired by Catherine, but changes his mind when shown she abused him in an attempt to assassinate their Bourbon kin in Navarra. Pressure by her Privy Council nobles, Elizabeth sacrifices her friend Donatella to take the blame for Catherine's machinations in England, and insults lover Robert Dudley in front of the Council so he won't be made ambassador, instead choosing her "retired" spy, Nicholas as new English ambassador to France. Leith grows closer to Claude now Catherine can't subdue him and learns that Francis is dying. Mary warns Lola to be wary of Narcisse, who tricks her into believing that Catherine wants to destroy her, so seeking his protection, she starts an affair with him.
