Story
Hazen returns to the Laotion lowland village of the fishermen Lao Loum tribe where he lived earlier and learned many skill he'll need on his five days journey over Mekong tributaries with rapids to catch big fish in rich but hard to reach waters. He uses and repairs the tribe's traditional bamboo raft, narrow so one can steer it alone. He stops at a fig tree, but the climb among snakes fleeing the monsoon-high water proves pointless as the fruits aren't ripe yet. He has more luck collecting aquatic snails, which must be boiled to eliminate parasites, so he painstakingly makes and uses a fire plow. Burning an ants nest on the fire chases bugs while a raisin torch attracts edible termites to his improvised bamboo hammock. Reaching the mighty falls, he must set woven fish traps and smoke his modest catch to preserve it in the tropical climate, only yielding catfish and other giant fish after fixing and crossing rope into a huge waterfall, risking a fatal slip.
