Story
Ross tracks down Ned's former secretary James Bannantine, who wasn't heard at the trial and is hesitant to step forward now, but testifies in writing. Ross publishes his testimony as a pamphlet, and Demelza distributes it in public, not realizing the risk. Dwight champions the medical case of mental irresponsibility, only to see the afflicted veteran whom Ross prevented from shooting the king locked up for life in an asylum which practices the harsh therapies Enys abhors. George agrees to invest in Ralph Hanson's mahogany company, but his uncle must seek excuses as his mind wanders off into imaginary meetings with Elisabeth, leaving Valentine unsupervised. Geoffrey Charles trikes an inconvenient friendship with Hanson's headstrong daughter Cecily.
