Story
In Truro, Warleggan is increasingly frustrated at the failure of his pitiful attempts at social climbing and Morwenna's refusal to marry Whitworth, whilst Agatha warns the girl that seeing Drake will only bring down Warleggan's wrath on them both and Geoffrey Charles - causing her to reluctantly break Drake's heart. Feeling rejected, the youngster joins Tholly, Ross and the ever loyal Zacky Martin and Captain Henshawe to rescue Dwight and Hugh Armitage. It is a generally successful mission, though one of the party does not return. Whilst Caroline is inevitably overjoyed, Elizabeth recognizes that Hugh has connections which could help her odious husband climb the social ladder.
