Story
Rick Scott has been recovering in Mexico under the care of a pretty nurse, Joanna Monford. While he's away, his uncle Harvey Scott has been running the family business, a mining company. He's also been telling Joanna that it's very important that Rick stay in Mexico and not return to Los Angeles. A surprise visit by his brother Ben, Ben's wife Elayna and a mutual friend Pamela Blair raises the issue of just what his uncle has been up to and so Rick decides to return to L.A. On board ship, he surprises everyone by marrying Joanna who had come to the conclusion that Pamela was his intended. Once in L.A., it becomes apparent that Uncle Harvey has been acting strangely. The company comptroller, Laurence Barlow, reports that Harvey has been making trips into the countryside and buying up old claims. Perry Mason gets involved in the case when Harvey is found dead, murdered in his study, and Joanna is taken into custody. Perry soon determines that the marriage on the ship is not valid and ...
