Story
Peter Handsell drops his female partner Veronica Dale off to be picked up by Edgar Ferrell who is expected to make a pass at Veronica. Ferrell tells her he is a movie producer who might have a "position" for her. He takes her to a large home his company uses as a set but as he offers her a drink another car arrives. He has her go out the back door. She decides to leave when she hears a shot. At a gas station she tries to call Peter but after no answer she gets a ride to Los Angles with John Addison who happens to be Ferrell's business partner. The next day Addison calls Perry to ask him to quietly get Veronica out of jail after being arrested for vagrancy. Later, he calls Perry again finding himself being blackmailed by Peter Handsell for helping Veronica. Perry tries to set up a sting for Handsell but finds Addison in deeper trouble when he reveals Ferrell was shot at the house the night he picked up Veronica. Perry has to decipher all the circumstantial evidence against his client.
