Story
The men return from moving the cattle as it is payday and they are ready to go to town for a night of celebration. Trampas has a date he has been looking forward to. Clay and Holly are working in the house waiting for Elizabeth to return from riding for dinner but she is missing. Realizing the Graingers are worried, The Virginian and Trampas go to the house to wait with them instead of going to town. When her horse arrives alone with a broken rein and severe scratches, Clay and The Virginian ride out to search but are stopped by nightfall and the arrival of a bad storm. They are soon followed the next morning by Trampas and Holly with food and water. They find Elizabeth trapped in an abandoned mine, where she had taken refuge during the storm. Another cave-in thwarts efforts to dig her out. Things look bleak until wolves are spotted near the mine, raising the possibility that the animals may have been using a forgotten emergency tunnel as a den. A desperate search for the tunnel ...
