Story
The next case the BAU embarks upon is brought to them by Lewis via Dr. Daryl Wright, her ex-husband who she had not seen in fifteen years. A Ph.D. in addictions treatment, Wright surprisingly approached her while she was giving a presentation in Los Angeles where he is based. The surprise is due to the fact that their split was a rocky one due to his alcoholism with which she was ultimately unable to help him and which resulted in the threat of abuse during their marriage. The case involves a spike in overdose deaths of people who were seeking treatment for one substance addiction or another, and whose deaths occurred within twenty-four hours of leaving rehab. The item tying the so far seven victims together making them possible homicides is that they died of a heroin overdose regardless of to what substance they were addicted and regardless of what type of rehab through which they went.
