Story
Pietro believes to be utterly betrayed by the foolish move to replace him. Lorenzo goes to Rome, asking pope Paul for an extension of the Medici bank credit from the papal tides. It's denied as the Pazzi man in the Roman Curia trumped the adopted Medici priest Carlo, but Lorenzo's mother gets mighty cardinal Orsini to promise his crucial support if Lorenzo weds his beautiful niece Clarice, who is quickly charmed but can't talked out of joining a nunnery. While the dynastic-diplomatic deal is concocted, Lorenzo returns to Firenze and reconciles his father by promising him to win the silver helmet in the annual joust. Brother Giuliana lets sister Bianca's secret Pazzi beloved Bastiano off with a draw. Francesco refuses to win by cheater sabotage, only to be decked fairly. The marriage is concluded by proxy, to Lorenzo's married mistress's fury.
