Story
Before the challenge started, Jock announced that Ben U. had left the show for personal reasons and would not be returning. The first round of the elimination was revealed to be a head-to-head duel, with the contestants being split into seven pairs to each compete in a different assigned cuisine (French, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Spanish and American). Simon, Jess, Emelia, Tracy, Khanh, Reece and Reynold emerged victorious in their respective duels, with Reynold blowing the judges away with his inventive take on American apple pie. Callum, Tessa, Laura, Hayden, Sarah T., Brendan and Sarah C. all lost and fell into the second round, where they could choose any one of five classic flavor pairings (apple/cinnamon, tomato/basil, ginger/lemongrass, walnut/date and beetroot/horseradish) to highlight in their dish.
