Story
Jess catches a man in the freight office. Sheriff Cory breaks up the fight. Jess has no proof the man broke the law but believes he is gathering information for the Logan gang who has been hitting stages and killing company workers. Cory lets the man go so Jess decides to ride shotgun on the next stage to Riverton but with a twist. He hides under a canvas between boxes for protection. Four men attack but Jess thinks he wounded one. Later, mortally wounded Sam Logan arrives at the home of Rev. John Holby. Sam and John rode together and Holby was once a bounty hunter. Sam tells John there is a $5,000 bounty on his head and to turn his body in saying he shot Sam in a fight. John against his wife's wishes does it with Jess verifying the body. Chuck Logan hearing about his brother decides on revenge not realizing the truth. They attack the Holbys but wound Laurie Adams. Her fiancé Bob turns the town against Holby leaving Jess and the Sheriff to protect them.
