Story
Anna Caruso's brother is killed during imprisonment with helping hands of the wardens. But he passed his information to his sister. This helps Cattani to better understand the system of the financial transactions of the laundering. His request to summon the people he had listed, is rejected by his boss, the local prosecutor Scardona. Cattani requests support from his mentor professore Cannito in Rome, who at the same time is "convinced" by professore Laudeo a member of a not specifically named lodge to take measures upon Cattani's investigation. Cannito tries to influence Scardone, not to make the list public. Scardone sees this as a thread to his integrity and resigns not to leave the list to his successor. The involved factory owners close their plants, which leads to a public uproar making Cattani responsible for their inconvenience. But Cattani continues with his investigation. As a result his daughter is kidnapped.
