Story
Katerina escapes Grigoriy. He makes sure Katia is actually alive, digging up her grave and finding no body inside. Katia turns to Nikolay for help, and he finds shelter for her in Kiev, with his lover Yelena Koreneva. Katerina tells Nikolay about the miller's claim that Aleksey was killed by an officer.
