Story
The death of genius engineer, philanthropist, and recording industry mogul Emmet Benton leaves his record company, Starlight Music, jointly in hands of his daughter Jerrica and the greedy, sleazy Eric Raymond. In need of money for the Starlight House, a home for foster girls, Jerrica approaches Eric Raymond. After learning that he has wrested control of the record label, Jerrica has a showdown with Eric over his new protégés, a rude, obnoxious all-girl techno-punk trio called The Misfits. Despondent, Jerrica returns home and learns to her shock that she has inherited a powerful supercomputer named Synergy that, using hologram projectors, transforms her into the glamorous rock star, Jem! Jerrica forms Jem and the Holograms then upstages The Misfits at Eric's rigged battle of the bands.
