Story
Crusading crime reporter Merrill Hartman and Dan Mathews find they are able to help each other in cracking a vicious extortion ring. Gang leader John Daggett knows that Hartman's stories threaten his racket, so he orders the reporter beaten and warned. When a story about the beating of motel owner Elliott Walters goes to press, Dan knows that an attempt will be made on Hartman's life and he provides Hartman with constant protection. Dagggett's thugs murder Walters after forcing him to make a phone call that will lure Hartman to Daggett's residence. Dan and Sergeant Williams follow Hartman at a discrete distance and arrest Daggett. However, they are forced to set up a roadblock away from the residence and engage Daggett's thugs in a gun battle in order to rescue the endangered reporter.
