Story
After Sidney has rescued Marion Taylor from a house fire her husband Dominic accuses pub landlord Tobias Hall of arson and soon afterwards Dominic is murdered. Hall denies murder but admits to blackmailing Dominic, a closet homosexual, an act which indirectly caused the fire. Geordie investigates the murder though Sidney feels he should be at home with his sick baby. Another row erupts between the two men when Geordie arrests Dominic's young lover Ben and Sidney believes that he is motivated purely by homophobic prejudice. Fortunately Sidney works out who the real killer is and helps Geordie trap him before the detective returns to find his child has recovered and Sidney entertains Hildegard Stanton, who has returned from Germany.
