Story
Jeremy has a bad start to the day, running away from bully Mooey Humphries. Tanya's late again, blaming the need to follow the school rule about walking slowly through the corridors. At home, Baz and Annie are determined that their father takes his medications: they live in hope that his mental state will improve. To their alarm, there is a knock at the door: it's only Maddie, who is struck dumb by the sight of Baz's cuts and bruises. She finds it hard to stomach his story that he fell over. Baz tells Maddie that his dad's out, except there's a call from him upstairs. He fends off her questions, grabs her firmly by the wrist, and pushes her out of the house. Through the letterbox, she makes her own threat - "No-one messes with Maddie Gilks," she says. Tanya wants to get involved in Togger's underpants dare game but she is told it's for boys only - she tells Emma she only wants to win the pants because Togger's forbidden her to take part.
