Story
The Unaired pilot is titled, "The Vintage Years". Although it is similar in many ways to what becomes "Falcon Crest", there are significant differences. First, the winery and property are never called "Falcon Crest" and that name is not spoken or seen in the pilot. There are several character differences. Chase Gioberti is played by Clu Gulager and Maggie is played by Samantha Eggar. The characters are not as defined as in the series.....more black and white here. Example.....Angela Channing is EVIL.....Chase Gioberti is GOOD......not a lot of complexity. Other character differences include Richard Channing (Michael Swan) as an established son of Angela and a mercenary type. Additionally, Julia Cumson is named Dorcas and the character of Emma Channing is reduced to screams heard from the attic and a brief glimpse on a staircase! The plot follows Chase and his family trying to establish themselves in the valley following the death of his father Jason. Angela wants the land and winery ...
