Story
Murder in the Vatican
Don Matteo's bishop friend, now a cardinal, summons the priest to the Vatican to discover what is behind the murder of an elderly scholar and the theft of ancient illuminated manuscripts. Don Matteo is helped by Capitano Anceschi and Maresciallo Cecchini, both masquerading as priests.
Leonardo Abbiati, an Egyptology professor, has been killed in the Vatican Library whilst perusing some ancient texts. Trying to avoid an unpleasant scandal, a cardinal who is an old acquaintance of Don Matteo summons him knowing he can count on his discretion and investigative skills.
