Story
Widower Jomme believes to have found a second mother for son Adelbert in typist Marianne, so he's eager to have her apply for the free typist post now Betty takes a leave to nurse her sick mother. Persez is a wreck, pending his divorce. Van Hie is on leave from an injured knee, just now it's double files season. The brass first decides on well-reputed Caroline Van Kersbeke, but Jean's flirtation chases her away. Jomme gets his Marianne, but she arrives drunk and the mates prove she only intends to milk him for money, as predicted by Mireille, who has joined a cult. Tienpondt doesn't look forward to a visit from his wife Gerlaine to choose a fur coat, even less when she insists to demonstrate she still knows how to type, so he's relieved when the new one arrives.
