Story
While returning to the fort after a scouting mission Cheyenne finds a white man and Apache Indian woman staked out. The man is dead but the woman is alive. She was the wife of the dead man but the Mescalero Apache don't allow it. While cutting her loose, Cpl. Howie Burch rides up to help. Cheyenne takes the girl to the fort while Howie buries the man. At the fort the woman recovers as Cheyenne learns the fort is to be abandoned and the troop relocated to Texas. He volunteers to take the woman Aleeah to Santa Fe to her tribe which is the Chiricahua Apache after he warns the nearby mining camps that the Army has left. Howie returns after the Army leaves but before Cheyenne and Aleeah leave. Instead of heading after the Army he decides to join Cheyenne to see Mary North but in reality he wants to see her older sister Amy Brandon, wife of miner Jed Brandon. The miners decide to send the women out with Cheyenne and Howie to Santa Fe while they continue. However, on the way out Yellow Knife...
