Story
Cheyenne rides into a town and enters the saloon to ask for directions to the Bridgeman Ranch which he heard was hiring. At the bar stands Preacher, a hit man who recognizes Cheyenne. He tries to get Cheyenne to stay by offering a drink and a room but Cheyenne declines. He leaves with Cheyenne saying he needs to stable his horse. As Cheyenne rides away Preacher pulls a knife but is shot by the Sheriff before he can throw it. Before dying, he says he was hired to kill by the potential employer of Cheyenne. He tried to kill Cheyenne for recognizing him. The sheriff then asks Cheyenne to take the job but work for him too so they can figure out who sent for the hit man in the first place and who he was really supposed to kill. There is a feud between the heavy Bridgeman who has a beautiful wife Lilli and Kiley Rand who have competing ranches and are fighting over the open range land. Cheyenne and the Sheriff are surprised when he learns who hired him and why.
