Story
Cheyenne with a wagon train is rescued from an Indian attack by the Army and given orders to report to the Department of the Army in Washington D.C. There Cheyenne is given details about a group working to raise money to bring back Baylor's 27th Calvary and the fight for the Confederacy. Cheyenne is to go undercover as the singer/actor/dancer Jim Thornton Merritt to expose the confederate conspiracy. Cheyenne is an exact double for Merritt but first he is trained to talk, sing, act, and dance like Merritt plus his background including his wife's. They kidnap Merritt to make the switch during a performance. His wife likes this new husband but fellow actor George who leads the conspiracy begins to think he is an impostor due to little changes. When they accidentally run into an old acquaintance of Cheyenne's on a train George thinks he knows how to finally expose him. Adding to Cheyenne's woes he is told that the real Merritt has escaped putting the scheme in danger.
