Story
Beatrice Martin Kipp, a rather domineering wealthy widow, hires Checkmate to find out who it is who has made an attempt on her life. She insists Don Corey accompany her to her extensive ranch to investigate, and is far from pleased when Don, due to other commitments, must send young Jed in his place. However, with Dr. Hyatt's help, Jed unravels the mysterious murder plot despite their client's lack of faith in his experience.
