Story
While enjoying the pleasure of her new marriage to Victor Harp, he tells Kitty that he has married her while still married to a woman named Martha who he must join on the wagon train to San Francisco. There he plans to divorce her. As they hate to be separated, Victor hires former Harvard classmate and disbarred attorney Miles Brisbane who is in jail to pretend to be Kitty's husband so Kitty can go along and Victor will not be discovered as a bigamist. Victor will pay Miles enough money to follow his dream to go to the South Pacific. Later on the train, when Harp tells Kitty that he can not leave the wealthy Martha, Kitty gives Victor an ultimatum which he mocks and in anger she shoots Victor to death and then flees the wagon train. Martha offers a reward of $5,000 for the return of Kitty and Miles pursues her for the reward to fund his dream. While returning her, the pair develops feelings for each other.
