Story
Deborah is kidnapped from her London flat along with feckless boyfriend Jake. Charlie, visiting her and asked to pay the ransom money, summons Jim, who goes absent without leave to find her. Using her diary he follows a trail to a club owner called Velma and her sister Cassie, who insists that Jake is her lover and is about to get them big money. Joined by DC Lomas, who has followed him from Jersey, and the mysterious Harry Burnside, Jim rescues Deborah before returning to the Bureau and handing in his resignation.
