Story
Intendant De Fer's arrival from Québec forces the Wobik town captain Bouchard to let Cooke, whom widow Mathilde taunted shamelessly like she stirred the captain, go from the pillory, albeit banished with Duquet, and orders a search for the missing priest, which he orders the superior to join as seasoned Iroquois expert. Trepagny allows Melissande, who expects to control him from the bedroom, to take charge of the household, at squaw Mari's expense, and seeks Wendat Indian his dangerous mission, while René Sel remains an Iroquois captive. Delphine is divorced by her 'incompatible' husband, who can't expect another bride.
