Story
John Basketball is an absurd dramatic comedy about a man pulling 3 weirdos together to win a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. The goal: to pay rent with the winnings. Our titular character is a failed weatherman that is haunted by the YouTube video of his on air meltdown. As the views of the video skyrocket, now jobless, his only hope is the athletic abilities of a freelance dog catcher, a mental patient, and a deaf office worker. This anachronistic story is narrated by a journalist without a story, who is late on a deadline. There isn't a lot of sports in this sports film. John Basketball is a strange combination of doomed optimism and hopeful regret.
